At Young Musicians of Westchester, Inc., we believe that world-class music education and performance opportunities transform young lives. Our Board of Directors provides the vision, fiduciary oversight, and strategic leadership that allow our young artists to take the stage and thrive.

We are currently seeking passionate, community-minded leaders to join our Board of Directors and support our next phase of growth.

What We Look For in a Director

While a passion for music is essential, you do not need to be a professional musician to serve. We seek individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Financial Management & Audit Guiding financial planning, annual budgeting, tax reporting, and audit oversight.
Fundraising & Donor Relations Connecting the organization with corporate sponsors, foundations, and individual patrons.
Marketing & Public Relations Enhancing our digital presence, media relations, concert promotion, and audience engagement.
Legal & Non-Profit Governance Ensuring organizational compliance, contract review, and governance best practices.
Arts Administration & Education Connecting us with school districts, youth orchestras, and regional venues.

Board Member Commitments & Expectations

To ensure our board remains active, effective, and fulfilling for every director, we ask all candidates to commit to the following:

1. Governance Term

Term of Service

Serve a standard 2-year term (renewable up to 3 consecutive terms).

2. Schedule

Meeting Cadence

Attend quarterly board meetings (held via hybrid format in Westchester/Zoom) and prepare by reviewing pre-meeting packages.

3. Sub-Committees

Committee Participation

Serve on at least one committee (Finance & Audit, Governance, Strategic Events, or Development).

4. Stewardship

Financial Advocacy

Participate in our annual Give-or-Get policy through direct giving, donor cultivation, or securing corporate sponsorship.

5. Ambassador Role

Event Attendance

Attend at least two major performances or student showcases each season as an ambassador for the organization.
